Planting & Garden Beds
Beds and plantings that thrive in Colorado, not just survive.
Beds change how a yard looks more than almost anything else. We design, plant, and refresh them with trees, shrubs, and perennials that can take this climate.
Picking the right plant matters more here than it does somewhere gentler. Our winters, our sun, the wind, and the hail are hard on the wrong ones, so we stick to what has proven itself around Aurora and Denver over 20+ years.
Before anything goes in, we break up and amend the clay, set each plant at the right depth, and mulch to hold moisture and keep weeds down.
Beds looking tired? We clean them out, divide or replace plants, re-edge, and re-mulch.

What 20+ years here taught us
The metro sits mostly in USDA zone 5b to 6a. Everything we plant is rated for those winters.
Mulch over amended soil does a lot here. It holds what water there is and keeps soil temperature steadier.
Spring and early fall are the easiest times to plant. Summer works, but you have to stay on the watering.
Common questions
- When is the best time to plant in the Denver area?
- Spring and early fall. Plants root in before the summer heat or the winter cold hits. Summer works too, it just takes a tighter watering plan.
- Will you help me pick plants, or do I need to know what I want?
- We'll help. Tell us the colors and styles you like and how much upkeep you want, and we'll bring options that fit your yard.
- How much watering will new plantings need?
- Everything new needs regular water the first season or two, even the drought-tolerant stuff. After that it drops off a lot. We'll leave you a simple care plan.
